Former minister and former Salon MLA Shivbalak Pasi (81) of Dehradun, echo of mountains, simple nature, died on Saturday night. He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Amethi district. Shivabalak Pasi, a resident of Thauri village of Dih block area and former Congress MLA, was elected village head in 1972. He was the head of the village till the year 1980. After this, he never looked back and reached the pinnacle of politics. In 1980, Salon became an MLA from the Congress Party for the first time. Won again in 1985. He became a MLA for the third time in 1989 and surprised everyone. Became MLA for the fourth time in 1991 and fifth time in 2007. Shivbalak Pasi was also made the Minister of State for Social Welfare after the formation of the BP Singh government in 1980.
